Culture & Literature

Musée de la Religion en France

French Civilization (FR 3070)

This project was created by myself and two other group members where we created a virtual museum that focused on the religious changes in France. We focused on 3 subtopics including polytheism of the Gaulois, the religious wars, and Catholicism in France. In this project, I focused on Catholicism in France and researched and collected artifacts that represented how Catholicism changed over time, from when the first king of France was baptized in Reims to important individuals that represented the church like Jean of Arc. From this project, I was able to better understand various events that occurred in France’s history and how it impacts their culture and beliefs in the modern day.

Devoir Final

French for Health Professionals II (FR 4180)

I completed this writing assignment at the end of my French for Health Professionals II class with Dr. Dubique. In this writing assignment, I was able to tie in various themes of the course including how community health workers are used in primary health and the obstacles they face due to factors such as the social determinants of health. From this assignment, I was able to recognize the many different barriers that prevent individuals from seeking medical treatment and how that could not only affect individuals in the United States but globally. Furthermore, it expanded my views on healthcare delivery and how different countries employ different strategies in improving health in their country.

Presentation of a Healthcare Establishment

French for Health Professionals I (3180)

At the end of the semester, I created a video project about a local hospital in French and interviewed a physician who worked there; since the interview was conducted in English, I provided the French subtitles. From this assignment, I learned more about how the hospital is addressing the gaps in accessing healthcare services due to insufficient healthcare professionals, particularly physicians and nurses. I also was able to learn more about the healthcare system in the United States through the identification of different careers as well as different types of insurance.

Presentation: Underserved Populations in the United States

French for Health Professionals II (FR 4180)

In my French for Health Professionals II class, I created a presentation on underserved populations in the United States. In this presentation, I examined a few of the underserved populations including rural areas, Native Americans, and people without health insurance. I was able to learn more about underserved populations, including what defined underserved populations, and I was able to apply my knowledge gained throughout the semester and apply it to this assignment. This assignment opened my eyes to how many different groups are underrepresented when it comes to accessing health care services. It is essential to be able to identify these populations to continue to improve access to health care services in order to improve the health of the nation.

Public Health

Lebanon & SDG 3

Global Health (HLTH 4700)

I completed this paper throughout my Global Health class on if Lebanon would achieve the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, which is health and wellbeing, by 2030. In this paper, I looked at the education, the economy, and the health of the country as indicators. In this assignment, I was able to apply what I learned about the SDGs and what we learned about global health and applied it to this assignment to be able to analyze if they would be able to achieve SDG 3 by 2030.

Maternity Leave Poster

Women's Health Issues (HLTH 3100)

At the end of the semester, our class participated in a Gender Health Symposium where we were able to present our projects. I worked with a partner to create a poster on the impact of maternity leave on the mother’s and infant’s health. From this assignment, I was able to learn more about the resources that is provided in the United States and understand how necessary it is to improve these benefits to increase the quality of life and health of the United States. I was able to compare maternity care here in the United States to other countries and the impacts that is has on their overall health. From this experience, I can better understand the importance of being able to provide more support for families during this transition as it has profound impacts on the overall health of not just the mother, but the family as a whole.
